Amman, Jan. 6 (Petra) -- The Jordan Valley Authority (JVA) on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the National Center for Research and Development (NCRD) to enhance cooperation in scientific research, development, and innovation.

The memorandum was signed by the JVA Secretary-General Hisham Hayseh and the NCRD President Mohammad Wadiyan, in the presence of officials and stakeholders from both sides.

Hayseh stated that the agreement aligns with government directives aimed at supporting research, development, and innovation, fostering creative talent, and strengthening partnerships among public institutions to advance national and institutional objectives. He underscored the importance of expanding scientific and research linkages and enhancing coordination to support priority research areas, particularly those related to the water sector.

He noted that the partnership seeks to develop and implement applied research models, promote innovation, and facilitate technology transfer to address challenges facing the Kingdom’s water resources.

Wadiyan said the memorandum represents a key step toward consolidating national scientific efforts, mobilizing research capacities, and advancing sustainable development through innovative, science-based solutions to water sector challenges.

The memorandum reflects both parties’ commitment to establishing a constructive partnership in research and development, serving the national interest, and supporting evidence-based policymaking.
