Amman, June 25 (Petra) - At least 164 people were killed in a powerful twin earthquake in Venezuela, interim government head Delcy Rodríguez said.

In press remarks on Thursday, Rodríguez said hundreds were injured as the quakes, the strongest to hit Venezuela since 1900, struck multiple regions, causing widespread destruction.

Authorities, which declared a state of emergency, continued rescue operations, amid extensive damage and scenes of panic in the capital Caracas and other affected areas.
