VTC Empowers 39 Trainers in Digital Skills, AI

Amman, Sept. 17 (Petra) --Vocational Training Corporation (VTC), in cooperation with UNICEF and Digital Opportunity Trust (DOT) Jordan, concluded a specialized training program for 39 trainers.

The program is implemented under the "Digital Skills for a Better Future" initiative, aimed at integrating digital skills and AI applications into vocational training, the VTC said in a statement Thursday.

The program, supported by the Government of the Netherlands through the PROSPECTS partnership, is part of joint efforts to equip youth with skills to keep pace with technological change and access jobs in the digital economy.

Over two weeks spanning from Sept. 6-17, participants were trained in basic digital skills, freelancing and micro-digital tasks, AI tools, and session facilitation and management, using approved training materials.

The trainers will pass these skills on to VTC trainees across its institutes, a step officials said is key to expanding and sustaining the program.

During the closing ceremony, VTC Director General Raafat Sawafeen said building trainers' capacity is essential to improving training quality and preparing youth for a changing labor market.

UNICEF Jordan Representative Marc Rubin said the training's impact extends beyond the 39 trainers, enabling them to reach far more youth and help them transition confidently from learning to employment.

DOT Jordan Executive Director Hamza Shraideh said trainers development is "key" to sustaining the digital-skills program's reach and equipping youth for digital-economy opportunities.

The training coincides with the VTC's 50th anniversary and its continued efforts to update activities in line with technological change and labor market needs.
