Amman, Feb. 5 (Petra) – The Ministry of Water and Irrigation, in coordination with the USAID-funded Water Governance Activity (WGA) and the Ministry’s Communication and Information Technology Unit, conducted a specialized training program for the National Water Information System (NWIS) project team and field monitoring personnel.

According to a Ministry statement issued Thursday, the program, implemented in two phases, focused on automating data collection and using mobile devices at field sites. This allows technicians to input monitoring station data directly into the system, improving both speed and accuracy.

The Ministry said the program is part of efforts to transition from traditional data collection methods to an integrated digital system that minimizes human error and enhances data reliability. It aims to provide decision-makers with timely and accurate information to support sustainable water resources planning in line with international standards and principles of good governance.
