Irbid, March 5 (Petra) – Yarmouk University (YU) on Thursday launched a guidance program for students, who have already received disciplinary penalties for committing behavioral violations related to campus violence.

The program, which is implemented by the Guidance Department within the Deanship of Student Affairs, integrates a reform-based educational approach that views disciplinary action as a stage for review, evaluation, and rehabilitation, rather than simply a punitive measure.

According to a YU statement, the step is part of a the university's "comprehensive" preventative and rehabilitative system, which aims to transform disciplinary penalties from their traditional deterrent framework into an integrated guidance and reformative path.

The university said this vision aims to promote a culture of "conscious and responsible" discipline and foster a safe and stable campus environment that preserve students' dignity and rights, while transforming behavioral challenges into "genuine opportunities for growth and maturity." On its foundation, the program is based on a "comprehensive" guidance plan with psychological, educational, and ethical dimensions.

The move also aims to deepen students' behavioral self-awareness, develop their ability to manage and regulate their responses in stressful situations, and grasp dialogue and conflict resolution skills that respect differences and preserve dignity of others.
