Amman, March 12 (Petra) -- Minister of Youth Raed Adwan and Australian Ambassador to Jordan Paula Ganly discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the youth sector.

During the meeting, held on Thursday at the Ministry of Youth, Adwan underscored the depth of ties between the two countries and stressed the importance of broadening cooperation in ways that serve young people in both nations.

He reviewed the ministry’s priorities in activating youth centers and implementing programs that respond to young people’s needs and aspirations. He said the ministry has carried out the National Youth Survey in preparation for the National Youth Strategy for 2026-2030 and has launched a package of programs in sports, arts, music, digital skills, and leadership development to help empower youth and build their capacities.

Adwan also highlighted Jordan’s leading role in advancing UN Security Council Resolution 2250 on Youth, Peace and Security, noting that the resolution was the result of efforts led by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II during his chairing of a Security Council session, in which he presented the draft resolution that was later adopted unanimously by the Council. He said the resolution was the first in UN history to recognize the central role of youth in peacebuilding and the promotion of security.

For her part, Ganly expressed her aspiration to enhance cooperation on youth-related issues of mutual interest that support greater youth participation and enable both countries to benefit from shared expertise, in line with the National Youth Strategy led by the ministry and Jordan’s national priorities for youth empowerment.

The two sides also discussed developing a joint implementation program, exchanging expertise and international best practices in youth work, and carrying out youth and cultural exchange programs.
