Irbid, Feb. 5 (Petra) – The Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) participated in the World Government Summit 2026, held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, under the theme "Shaping Future Governments," with broad international participation by heads of state and government, senior officials, policymakers, and experts.

In a statement issued Thursday, the university said it was represented at the summit by its president Khaled Salem. The participation aimed to highlight the university’s experience in promoting entrepreneurship and innovation, strengthening the innovation ecosystem, advancing digital transformation, and reinforcing its role in community service and sustainable development.

The statement said JUST presented a range of initiatives and programs focused on digital transformation, support for entrepreneurial projects, and linking scientific research to societal and labor market needs, in line with global trends in institutional development and governance.

Salem said the university’s strategy is aligned with national modernization initiatives implemented under the guidance of His Majesty King Abdullah II, particularly the Economic Modernization Vision. He said the university is translating these national priorities into practical programs that support innovation, promote the knowledge economy, and contribute to developing skills capable of meeting future labor market demands.

He said the university’s participation in the summit reflects its commitment to engaging with international platforms focused on shaping the future of governance and exchanging expertise in innovation and digital transformation. He added that JUST operates according to a strategic vision centered on building student capacities, empowering academic talent, and strengthening partnerships with local and international institutions to serve the community and achieve sustainable development.

Salem said the university continues to develop its academic and research systems and adapt its programs to rapid global changes, enhancing its role as a leading educational and research institution and contributing to the preparation of a generation capable of innovation and competitiveness in the knowledge economy.

The statement said the participation reflects the university’s advanced academic standing and its role in representing Jordan’s higher education sector at international forums, while strengthening its presence in global initiatives related to governance and innovation.

The World Government Summit 2026 is expected to record its largest participation since its launch, with more than 60 heads of state and government and their deputies, over 500 ministers, and representatives from more than 150 governments, in addition to global thought leaders and experts.
