Amman, Feb. 5 (Petra) -Agricultural producer prices rose 3.8% in 2025, compared with 2024, while falling 17.4% in December 2025 year-on-year and declined 22.5% against November 2024, according to the Department of Statistics (DoS) report.

The cumulative agricultural producer price index for 2025 stood at 113.5 points, up from 109.4 for 2024. The index for December 2025 was 89.4 points, compared with 108.3 in December 2024 and 115.5 in November 2025.

Compared with 2024, the 2025 cumulative index reflected price increases for crops carrying a combined relative weight of 30.6%, most notably bananas, hot peppers, and green sweet peppers. Prices fell for crops with a combined weight of 69.4%, led by potatoes, tomatoes, and colored sweet peppers.

The December 2025 decline versus December 2024 was attributed to lower indices for crops with a combined weight of 62.5%, most notably tomatoes, white cabbage, and green corn. Offsetting increases were recorded for crops with a combined weight of 37.5%, including lemons, papayas, and olives.

Month on month, December 2025 prices fell for crops with a combined weight of 73.9%, mainly fennel, strawberries, and kumquats, while prices rose for crops with a combined weight of 26.1%, led by zucchini, cucumbers, and potatoes.

The report noted a methodology review to improve data quality, adopting monthly price data for all crops from central markets, using 2016 as the base year (2016=100) and the Laspeyres formula to compute the index.
