ASEZA, GIZ Explore Expanded Development Cooperation in Aqaba, Wadi Rum

Aqaba, June 28 (Petra) -- Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) Commissioner for Tourism and Youth Thabet Nabulsi discussed with a delegation from the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) ways to expand cooperation on development programs and projects that support local communities in Aqaba and Wadi Rum while enhancing their economic and social impact.

The meeting, attended by the ASEZA Director of Entrepreneurship and Innovation Rima Tabbaa and Wadi Rum Directorate Director Saleh Naimat, focused on priorities for the next phase of cooperation, according to an ASEZA statement issued Sunday.

The discussions covered support for entrepreneurship and innovation, the economic empowerment of women through the development of productive and entrepreneurial projects, and strengthening the digital skills of young people and women in the governorate to improve their access to the labor market.

Nabulsi stressed the importance of directing development partnerships toward projects with sustainable, long-term impact to ensure their benefits continue to serve local communities after implementation is completed.

He reaffirmed the ASEZA's commitment to expanding cooperation on high-impact initiatives that support economic and social development and foster entrepreneurship and innovation in Aqaba and Wadi Rum.

It is worthy to note that the ASEZA and the GIZ, with support from the German government and the European Union, have implemented a range of programs and projects in recent years in entrepreneurship, training, employment, women's empowerment, and digital transformation to advance sustainable development in Aqaba.
