Authorities Crackdown on Water Sources Violations in Ajloun, Ramtha, Amman

Amman, Feb. 1 (Petra)- The Ministry of Water and Irrigation / Water Authority, in cooperation with relevant agencies, on Sunday seized an illegal well in Ajloun governorate’s Ain Al-Bayda area.

The ministry said the drilling rig used in the violation was confiscated and impounded at the Central Workshops Directorate, while investigations are continuing in preparation for referring the case to the competent judicial authorities.

According to a ministry statement, another illegal well was detected in Ramtha, in coordination with the local security center. The encroachment was removed, the well was backfilled, and the necessary legal reports were prepared, with further investigations to follow.

In Amman, and in cooperation with Miyahuna Company and the Al-Muhajireen Police Station, authorities raided an apartment building in the Nazzal – Al-Thira Al Shamali area for illegally tapping water sources, and the required legal measures were taken against it.

The Water Authority commended the efforts of the Public Security Directorate, stressing that its campaign to monitor and remove all encroachments on water sources will continue, and that legal action will be taken against violators.
