Amman, Nov. 4 (Petra) - Eurozone inflation rose to 4 percent in October, reaching its highest level in three years as energy prices surged due to conflict in the Middle East, according to Eurostat's preliminary estimates released on Wednesday.
Eurostat data shows that consumer price growth accelerated across the 21 countries using the euro, up from 3.8 percent in September. This marks the highest inflation rate for the bloc since September 2023.
The October acceleration was primarily driven by a sharp rise in oil prices, with energy costs jumping 20.8 percent year-over-year, up from 18.9 percent in September.
Prices across other sectors also ticked upward slightly. Service costs rose 3.3 percent compared to 3.2 percent in September, while food prices grew by 1.6 percent, up from 1.3 percent the previous month.
