Amman, March 2 (Petra) - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Ayman Safadi on Monday warned of the seriousness of the escalation witnessed by the region and condemned the Iranian attacks on the Kingdom and the sister states of the Gulf Cooperation Council.

In phone calls with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Foreign Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov, Safadi stressed that Jordan is taking all necessary steps to protect the safety of its citizens and its security and stability and affirmed the Kingdom’s solidarity with the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Sultanate of Oman, the State of Qatar, and the State of Kuwait in all measures they take to confront the unjustified Iranian attacks and protect their citizens and their security and stability.

The two ministers stressed their countries’ solidarity with the Kingdom.

Safadi stressed the importance of joint action to consolidate security and stability in the region, de-escalate and activate diplomacy as a means to achieve that.

Safadi, Fidan, and Bayramov also discussed during the two phone calls the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, and Safadi stressed the importance of unifying efforts to end the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza and prevent Israel from annexing the West Bank and killing the chances of achieving a just peace. He affirmed the necessity of the full implementation of all provisions of U.S. President Donald Trump’s plan regarding Gaza.

Safadi affirmed that Israel’s continued closure of Al-Aqsa Mosque and prevention of worshippers from reaching it to perform their religious rituals represent a flagrant assault on freedom of worship that requires an international position against it and effective action to stop it.
