Amman, Oct. 5 (Petra) -- Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi stated on Monday that GCC member states are actively working to diversify energy export routes and secure supply chains to enhance the resilience and readiness of the region's energy sector against rapid global shifts.
Speaking at the 37th meeting of the GCC Petroleum Cooperation Committee held in Manama, Bahrain, Albudaiwi emphasized that energy security extends beyond production capacity to ensuring the reliable flow of supplies under all circumstances.
He noted that 2025 indicators show GCC crude oil reserves exceeding 518 billion barrels, while natural gas reserves passed 44 trillion cubic meters. Crude oil production reached over 16 million barrels per day, with marketed natural gas production standing at approximately 461 billion cubic meters.
Albudaiwi added that recent disruptions along transit corridors highlight the necessity of strengthening GCC coordination to maintain supply reliability, alongside adopting a balanced, pragmatic approach to the energy transition that preserves market stability and encourages investment in modern technologies.
