Jerash Festival hosted over 226 activities promoting creativity, cultural dialogue

Jerash, August 4 (Petra) -Jerash Festival for Culture and Arts, in its current edition, featured over 226 events, which further solidified its position as a "key" cultural and artistic activity in the region and enhanced its presence as a platform for creativity, cultural diversity, and dialogue.

In a statement to "Petra" Tuesday, Festival Director Yazan Khudair stated the festival continued to fulfill its cultural and national mission within "a high-quality and diverse" program that attracted a "wide" audience from within Jordan and abroad.

He noted that events featured artistic and poetry evenings, theatrical and folkloric performances, and cultural and heritage activities targeting various age groups.

He added that the festival witnessed a "large" public turnout, reflecting the public's confidence in this annual event.

He said success was due to "integrated" efforts of various official and private entities, supporters, partners, and volunteers, citing thir key contributions in this regard.

For his part, Dr. Atef Odibat, a member of the Festival's Higher Committee and representative of the local community, said the event has become a "crucial" cultural and developmental driver, which showcases Jordanian national identity and enhances cultural, tourism, and economic activity in the Jerash governorate.

In turn, Head of Jerash Municipal Committee, Mohammad Bani Yassin, noted that the festival had a "positive" impact on various service and commercial sectors in the governorate.

He added that activities contributed to reviving economic and tourism activity, referring to the festival's role in showcasing the cultural and civilization-based heritage that distinguishes the ancient city of Jerash.
