Amman, Feb. 4 (Petra) -- Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti on Wednesday received Chief of Staff of Egyptian Armed Forces Lt. Gen. Ahmed Fathi Khalifa and the accompanying military delegation at the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF)–Arab Army.

An official military reception was held for the visiting delegation, during which a guard of honor was reviewed.

During the meeting, talks focused on avenues of joint military cooperation and coordination and ways to further develop them in line with strategic changes, aimed to enhance integration between the two countries' armed forces.

The meeting also addressed issues of mutual interest, as well as regional and international developments and their implications on regional security and stability.

Both sides were briefed on the JAF's training, operational and logistical programs, modernization and development pathways, and its future plans aimed at strengthening cooperation, particularly in joint exercises, specialized courses, and capacity building programs to achieve the "highest levels of efficiency and professionalism." Huneiti said Jordanian-Egyptian relations are founded on "firm principles of brotherhood and continuous coordination," adding that mutual military cooperation represents a "model of joint action and reflects commitment of the two countries' leaderships to orchestrate efforts to confront challenges and bolster regional security and stability.

Huneiti also called for building on existing qualitative military partnerships and expanding cooperation in training fields and exchanging expertise to enhance operational preparedness and develop defensive capabilities in line with strategic requirements.

For his part, Lt. Gen. Khalifa commended the JAF's "advanced" level and its "pivotal" role in supporting regional security and peace, praising its "high professional competence".

He affirmed continued coordination and intensified cooperation and expertise exchange to serve common interests.

Egyptian ambassador and defense attaché in Amman, and a number of senior JAF officers attended the meeting.
