Jordan, Oman Discuss Legal Cooperation

Amman, July 13 (Petra) – Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs Abdul Monem Odat on Monday discussed with a delegation of the Legal Committee of Oman’s State Council ways to strengthen parliamentary and legal cooperation.

The delegation was headed by Sultan Al-Azizi, in the presence of Oman’s Ambassador to Jordan Fahad Alojaili.

The two sides discussed exchanging expertise in drafting and reviewing legislation and improving the quality of legal drafting in line with best legislative practices.

Odat said Jordanian-Omani relations are a solid Arab model based on trust, mutual respect, and unified positions on Arab issues, foremost of which is the Palestinian cause. He said the two countries are a voice of wisdom and moderation amid rapid regional challenges and developments.

During the meeting, Odat reviewed Jordan’s comprehensive modernization project across its political, economic, and administrative tracks, including legislative updates aimed at developing political life, enhancing party participation, empowering women and youth, and advancing the local administration system.

He stressed the importance of exchanging expertise between legislative institutions in both countries and building on successful experiences to develop legal systems, improve legislative efficiency, enhance the rule of law, and promote good governance.

For his part, the head of the Omani team noted the deep Jordanian-Omani relations and commended Jordan’s expertise in political modernization and legislative development. He affirmed the State Council’s keenness to expand cooperation and expertise exchange with Jordan in service of both countries’ interests.
