Jordan, Pakistan Discuss Environmental Cooperation

Amman, May 20 (Petra) -- Minister of Environment Ayman Suleiman and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Jordan, Khurram Sarfraz Khan, discussed on Wednesday ways to enhance cooperation in the environmental field, support sustainable development efforts, and address shared environmental challenges.

During the meeting, Suleiman stressed the importance of expanding cooperation with Pakistan and benefiting from environmental protection expertise. He said the ministry is keen to build effective partnerships with other countries in line with national priorities and the Economic Modernization Vision.

The ambassador noted the "distinguished" relations between the two countries, reiterating Pakistan’s interest in enhancing cooperation with Jordan on environmental issues of mutual concern and exchanging technical expertise and know-how to serve common interests.

The two sides agreed to forge ahead with signing a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Environment and relevant authorities in Pakistan to establish an institutional framework for future cooperation in environmental fields and develop joint programs and initiatives in the coming period.
