Jordan, Syria Discuss Health Cooperation

Amman, June 18 (Petra) -- Health Minister Ibrahim Bdour on Thursday discussed with Syrian Health Minister Musab al-Ali ways to advance health cooperation and turn signed agreements into executive programs and projects.

According to a ministry statement, Bdour arrived in Damascus at the head of an official delegation representing Jordan’s health sector. He said the visit comes in implementation of the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II and Syrian President Ahmad Sharaa to strengthen partnership and reinforce ties between the two countries, as well as follow up on the outcomes of the Jordanian-Syrian Higher Coordination Council.

He said Jordan is committed to building sustainable institutional partnerships with Syria and exchanging expertise between health institutions in both countries.

The delegation includes representatives of the Ministry of Health, the Jordan Center for Disease Control, the Jordan Medical Council, the Jordan Food and Drug Administration, the Jordanian Association of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers, the King Hussein Cancer Foundation and Center, King Abdullah University Hospital, University of Jordan Hospital, the Private Hospitals Association, and the Restoring Hope Society.

The visit includes meetings and technical talks between Jordanian and Syrian health institutions to explore areas of mutual interest, develop health services and translate shared understandings into practical programs serving both countries.
