Amman, Oct. 29 (Petra) -Ministry of Water and Irrigation/Water Authority of Jordan (WAJ) on Thursday detected 3 cases of tampering with main water pipelines in Talbieh Camp area, south of Amman.

The water theft case was unveiled during a campaign, carried out in cooperation with the Miyahuna Water Company and the Public Security Directorate (PSD).

In a statement, the ministry reported that teams from the WAJ and Miyahuna Water Company, in coordination with the PSD, conducted a crackdown to identify illegal enchroachments on the area's main pipelines.

The operation uncovered 3 such thefts, involving pipelines with diameters of 2 inches and 3/4 of an inch.

The ministry added that the illegal fixtures were disconnected.

The ministry also announced specialized committees will now estimate the volume of water illegally siphoned off and prepare the necessary official reports against the perpetrators, in preparation for taking legal action, in accordance with established procedures.
