Senate committee condemns Iranian violations, stresses sovereignty is 'red line'

Amman, July 21 (Petra) The Arab, International Affairs, and Expatriates Committee in the Senate has condemned repeated Iranian violations of state sovereignty, affirming that Jordan will not allow any infringement on its independence, sovereignty, or security under any circumstances or pretext.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the committee, chaired by Omar Razzaz, emphasized that Jordan, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, operates according to firm principles based on respecting state sovereignty, non-interference in internal affairs, and settling disputes through peaceful means. The committee reaffirmed Jordan's rejection of turning any country's territory or airspace into arenas for regional conflict or settling scores, warning that such actions pose a direct threat to regional security and stability.

The committee expressed its great pride in the role of the Jordan Armed Forces The Arab Army and security agencies in safeguarding the Kingdom's borders, airspace, and national security. It stressed that Jordan's security and sovereignty remain a red line that cannot be compromised, adding that any party attempting to violate them will bear full responsibility for the consequences of its actions.

Furthermore, the committee called on the international community to uphold its legal and moral responsibilities by taking effective and binding measures to stop repeated violations of state sovereignty, halt practices that undermine security and stability, and act urgently to contain escalation and prevent the region from sliding into further tension and conflict.

The committee also voiced its condemnation of attacks targeting Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, reiterating Jordan's solidarity with its brotherly nations in confronting these assaults.

Concluding its statement, the committee renewed its full support for the positions led by His Majesty the King aimed at protecting Jordan's supreme national interests, safeguarding its security and sovereignty, de-escalating tensions, and advancing political and diplomatic solutions to ensure regional stability.
