Trade ministry to intensify market monitoring during Eid period

Amman, May 19 (Petra) – Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply announced its comprehensive monitoring and inspection plan for economic and commercial activities across the Kingdom's governorates with the approach of Eid al-Adha.

The plan aims to maintain stability of the local market, ensure establishments's comply with regulations, and protect consumer rights.

In a statement issued Tuesday, the ministry confirmed the move aims to intensify inspection tours by its teams, in accordance with the provisions of the Industry, Trade and Supply Law.

The efforts also seek to activate channels for receiving and promptly and professionally addressing citizen complaints before and during the Eid holiday.

The ministry added that the monitoring tours will cover various commercial and service sectors, primarily bakeries to ensure compliance with official prices.

Additionally, the plan will monitor popular restaurants to ensure compliance with official price lists and livestock markets to ensure costs are clearly displayed for consumers.

The plan will monitor stores for selling fresh red meat and poultry. Ministry of Agriculture has deployed inspection teams to ensure product availability and adherence to price display regulations.

These teams will supervise shops selling desserts, furniture, electrical appliances, and prepaid mobile phone cards.

The ministry noted the clothing and footwear sectors will be subject to strict oversight to guarantee the legality and legitimacy of discounts and promotional offers during the Eid period.

As for the energy sector, teams will oversee fuel stations and domestic gas cylinders distribution centers to ensure compliance with the official pricing.

The ministry urged citizens to report any observations or complaints related to markets and commercial activities through: Landline phone (065629045), WhatsApp (0797527832), or email (MComplaint@mit.gov.jo).

The ministry affirmed its inspection teams handle all reports and complaints promptly and professionally.
