Transport Minister, Huawei officials discuss smart transportation, digital integration

Amman, May 6 (Petra) -- Minister of Transport Nidal Katamine met on Wednesday with officials from Huawei to discuss methods of integrating modern technology into the transportation sector. The meeting, held at the ministry’s headquarters, included several engineers and specialized technical staff.

Katamine emphasized the vital importance of adopting smart transport solutions and shifting toward digital systems across various transport modes to enhance operational efficiency and improve service quality. He stressed the necessity of keeping pace with global developments, especially as the sector undergoes major developmental projects.

The Minister noted that the upcoming phase requires a greater reliance on advanced technologies to manage and organize transport and traffic operations, which will improve flow and mitigate operational challenges. He pointed out the significance of utilizing innovation to support the entire transportation ecosystem.

Huawei officials presented their latest developments in smart and digital transportation, including traffic management systems, smart infrastructure technologies, and data analysis solutions designed to boost efficiency.

The two parties explored prospects for cooperation in applying these solutions to meet the specific needs of Jordan's transport sector. The goal is to build a modern, technology-driven transportation system that improves the user experience and strengthens logistical service efficiency.

This meeting aligns with the ministry’s strategy to develop the sector and enhance its competitiveness by adopting the latest global technologies and fostering partnerships with companies specializing in smart transport and digital transformation.
