Transport Minister, Sector Representatives Discuss Challenges Facing Tourist Transport Industry

Amman, June 18 (Petra) – Minister of Transport Nidal Qatamin met on Thursday with the president and members of the Jordan Tourist Transport Association to discuss the current state of the tourist transport sector, as well as the operational and regulatory challenges facing companies in the industry.

During the meeting, representatives of the sector presented a comprehensive overview of the key issues affecting tourist transport companies, particularly those related to regulatory procedures, fees, licensing and operating requirements. They also highlighted the impact of rising operating costs on the sector’s competitiveness and the quality of services provided.

Qatamin underscored the importance of the tourist transport sector as a key contributor to both the national economy and Jordan’s tourism industry. He stressed the need to continue developing the sector and enhancing its operational efficiency in a manner that improves service quality and strengthens Jordan’s appeal as a tourist destination.

The minister said the ministry would address the concerns raised through a practical approach focused on simplifying procedures, helping to reduce burdens on operators and encourage investment in the sector while maintaining safety standards and service quality.

The meeting also emphasized the importance of continued dialogue and coordination between the ministry and industry representatives to regularly follow up on sector-related issues and work toward gradual solutions to existing challenges within available resources, while ensuring the sustainable operation of tourist transport companies.
