19th Green Abaya Festival kicks off in Ajloun

Ajloun, Aug. 8 (Petra) -- The 19th Green Abaya Festival for the year 2026 launched on Saturday at the Ajloun Cultural Center, organized by the Ajloun Culture Directorate in cooperation with local cultural organizations, under the patronage of Amjad Al-Afif, Director of Cultural Associations representing the Minister of Culture.

Director of Ajloun Culture Directorate Samer Freihat highlighted that the Green Abaya Festival serves as a prominent cultural landmark in the governorate, reflecting the Ministry of Culture's commitment to encouraging local artists and empowering creative talent.

Freihat added that reaching its 19th edition demonstrates the festival's sustained success within Ajloun's cultural scene, noting that this year's program combines artistic, cultural, and family entertainment events to boost community engagement.

Ibrahim Bani Atta, cultural coordinator at the directorate, stated that the festival underscores the region's rich diversity and aligns with royal visions prioritizing human-centered development through culture. He noted that active cultural programming serves as a key tool in fostering belonging and countering extremist ideology.

The opening day featured a variety of poetry readings, a family and kids' carnival, and interactive performances designed to engage visitors of all ages.
