Amman, Ramallah explore joint initiatives in urban planning, digital transformation

Amman, Oct. 18 (Petra) - Amman Mayor Ahmad Malkawi met on Sunday with Ramallah Mayor Jack Saadeh to discuss municipal cooperation and improving public services.

Malkawi congratulated Saadeh and the newly elected Ramallah municipal council on winning voters' trust in last May’s local elections.

Malkawi noted that the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) is committed to sharing its technical and administrative expertise with Palestinian municipalities in line with Hashemite leadership directives.

He said that GAM would share its technical expertise, administrative experience and available resources with Palestinian municipalities. He urged turning cooperation into practical programs and joint initiatives that boost local government capabilities, improve municipal services and enhance quality of life.

He called for closer institutional cooperation and the exchange of practices in sanitation and waste management, public transportation and traffic safety, smart cities and digital transformation, urban planning and environmental sustainability, as well as institutional performance and governance.

Saadeh, for his part, praised His Majesty King Abdullah II's efforts and continued support for the Palestinian cause.

He commended cooperation between GAM and Ramallah Municipality, noting its role in sharing expertise and implementing projects to serve the city and its residents.
