PSD announces traffic plan for Ayla cycling, running race

Amman, Oct 19 (Petra) – The Public Security Directorate (PSD) on Monday announced traffic closures along the route of the 200km Ayla Dead2Red cycling and running race, organized by Generations For Peace and supervised by the Jordan Cycling Federation.

The plan is to ensure public safety and manage traffic flow during the event taking place on Thursday and Friday, October 22 and 23, it said.

The race kicks off at the Arab Potash Company site in Ghor Al-Safi, passing through Ghor Fifa, Qurayqira, Al-Risha, Rahma, Qatar, Bir Mathkur, and Wadi Araba, and all the way through to the northern entrance of Aqaba, the Aqaba Authority intersection and Al-Farouq Street intersection, ending up at the entrance to the Ayla resort.

The 200-KM course featured participants of various nationalities and genders.

The PSD said the traffic closures will be as follows: 1. Partial closure of the race route in both directions, from the Arab Potash Company site in Ghor Al-Safi to the Ayla resort in Aqaba, starting at 2:00 PM Thursday.

2. Full closure of the race route in both directions, starting at 5:00 PM Thursday.

3. Roads will reopen gradually, starting at 8:00 AM Friday, depending on the progress of the race and conclusion of events along the route. The PSD has confirmed that its traffic and field personnel will secure the race route and accompany the participants.

The PSD said it is taking all necessary measures to ensure the safety of participants and a smooth flow of traffic.

It urged motorists for cooperation and take alternative routes when necessary to maintain public safety and help the success of the sporting event.
