Senate President, Spanish Envoy Discuss Ties, Region

Amman, Feb. 18 (Petra) – Senate President Faisal Fayez met Wednesday with Spanish Ambassador to Jordan, Miguel de Lucas González, to discuss relations and regional developments.

During the meeting held at the Senate's headquarters, Fayez said Jordanian-Spanish ties have reached "advanced" levels of coordination and cooperation.

He called for expanding collaboration in economic, investment and parliamentary fields and boosting tourist and cultural exchange.

He affirmed Jordan’s commitment, under King Abdullah II's leadership, to broadening joint cooperation and investments.

Highlighting the King’s efforts to promote regional peace, he reiterated calls for a political solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict based on the two-state solution and international law.

He also urged the international community to ensure Israel adheres to the Gaza ceasefire agreement and allows adequate humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, commending Spain’s support for Jordan’s peace efforts.

González, in turn, underscored the "deep-rooted" relations, voicing Madrid’s commitment to elevating cooperation across development, economic, trade, parliamentary and cultural sectors.

He praised Jordan’s "pivotal" role in the region and affirmed that lasting peace depends on a two-state solution.
