Electric Workers Union, Algeria's FNTIEG Sign Cooperation Agreement

Irbid, Feb 9 (Petra) - The General Union of Electric Workers in Jordan and Algeria's National Federation of Workers of Sonelgaz Group Companies (FNTIEG) on Monday signed a cooperation agreement at the headquarters of Irbid Electricity Company, aimed at enhancing trade union cooperation and exchanging expertise between the two sides.

Director General of Irbid Electricity Company, Bashar Al Tamimi, lauded ties between Jordan and Algeria, stressing the importance of professional trade union work as a platform for cooperation, exchange of experience, and the promotion of workers’ interests in the electricity sector.

He pointed to the company’s achievements, crowned by winning the King Abdullah II Award for Excellence in Government Performance and Transparency for 2024, describing this accomplishment as the result of an institutional approach based on outstanding performance, sound governance, and continuous improvement, and as an incentive to continue developing performance and enhancing the quality of services provided to subscribers.

He commended the union's role and its contribution to opening channels of communication and knowledge for employees, in addition to its local, regional, and international roles.

The agreement, signed on behalf of the union by Fakhri Al Ajarmeh and on behalf of the Algerian side by FNTIEG Secretary General Mohamed Ouled Naoui, includes the exchange of trade union expertise and visits, strengthening relations between electricity sector administrations and workers in both countries, and following up on developments and exchanging experience in laws regulating the electricity sector and its workers in both countries.

Al Ajarmeh stressed the importance of the agreement and its positive impact on trade union work, noting that it is the result of joint cooperation and efforts to improve union performance.

For his part, Ouled Naoui praised the roles of the union and Irbid Electricity Company in strengthening cooperation ties between Jordan and Algeria, expressing hope for further development in the fields of scientific and knowledge exchange between the two sides.
