Amman, Jan. 25 (Petra) –Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) and Ministry of Environment on Sunday signed a cooperation agreement to manufacture metal containers and hanging waste bins for distribution in public spaces, parks, forests, and gardens.

The agreement aims to enhance waste management infrastructure and reduce littering practices.

The agreement, which was signed by GAM Mayor, Dr. Yousef Shawarbeh, and Minister of Environment, Dr. Ayman Suleiman, seeks to strengthen joint cooperation and coordination to implement the 2026-2027 executive program for the National Cleanliness and Anti-Littering Strategy.

On its axes, this program focuses on preserving the environment, raising public awareness about the littering phenomenon in public spaces, roads, parks, gardens, and tourist and archaeological sites, and enhancing waste management infrastructure.

Talking at the signing ceremony, Shawarbeh stated the municipality is working to improve cleanliness levels within the strategy's executive program, urging partnerships with all state institutions to boost level of services to serve citizens.

In turn, Suleiman praised the GAM's efforts to serve the city of Amman and its residents, improve cleanliness standards, and eliminate the phenomenon of indiscriminate waste disposal, aimed to ensure Amman's clean landscape.

The minister noted cooperation with the municipality in manufacturing and providing metal containers and waste bins in public areas nationwide "directly" contributes to promoting citizens' "positive" ecological behavior and reducing negative practices that affect the environment and public health.
