Jerash Health Directorate launches child protection, family wellness initiative

Jerash, Oct. 14 (Petra) -- The Jerash Health Directorate, in collaboration with Amman Arab University and the Local Community Health Committee at the Sakib Comprehensive Health Center, launched on Wednesday a community wellness project titled "Towards an Aware Family, Safe Child, and More Resilient Society." The initiative aims to enhance health, psychological, and behavioral awareness, as well as family and child protection across the governorate.

Sponsoring the event on behalf of Minister of Health Ibrahim Al Bdour, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Health for Primary Health Care and Epidemics Riyadh Al-Shiyab emphasized the importance of integrated efforts among health, educational, social, and security institutions to address behavioral and public health challenges through preventative care.

Amman Arab University President Mohammad Al-Widyan stated that safeguarding families and children is a collective responsibility, highlighting the role of academic institutions in community service, raising awareness, and fostering family stability.

Director of the Jerash Health Directorate Saeb Abu Aboud noted that the project aligns with the ministry's strategy to strengthen preventative healthcare and equip families with the necessary knowledge and tools to protect children from physical, psychological, and behavioral risks.

The launch featured a panel discussion covering community safety, family and child protection from behavioral hazards, mental health in child-rearing, and drug addiction prevention and recovery.

The event was attended by former Minister Mofleh Al Ruheimi, Member of Parliament Huda Al-Atoum, alongside local officials and representatives from academic, security, and community organizations.
