Minister lauds national team’s World Cup debut despite defeat

Amman, June 17 (Petra) -- Minister of Government Communication and government spokesperson Mohammad Momani said on Wednesday that the national football team’s match marked another step in the team’s historic journey, stressing that achievement should not be measured by the result of a single game, but by the experience, confidence and ambitions it builds for the future.

In a post on X, Momani said the national team delivered a strong performance against a formidable opponent despite the result, demonstrating the fighting spirit that reflects the hard work and effort that carried Jordan to the global tournament. He added that the team’s performance reinforced confidence in the capabilities and future of Jordanian football.

Momani said Jordan’s qualification for the FIFA World Cup finals represents a national achievement that is a source of pride and marks an important milestone in the country’s sporting history. He noted that Jordan’s presence in its first-ever World Cup appearance was commendable and projected a positive image of the Kingdom and its athletes.

He added that the journey still holds many opportunities and aspirations and that what has been achieved provides a strong foundation for building on this accomplishment and securing further successes in the future.

Momani praised the significant efforts of the national team’s players, coaching staff and administrators, expressing confidence in their ability to continue their campaign with determination and represent Jordan in the best possible way on the international stage.

He stressed that Jordan’s leadership and people stand firmly behind the national team and that the players will continue to be a source of pride for all Jordanians.
