Amman, May 3 (Petra) -- The Princess Taghrid Institute For Development And Training (PTI) celebrated the conclusion of the IGNITE project, which empowered girls aged 14 to 18, who miss family support and live in care homes.

The project was implemented with support from the René Moawad Foundation and the International Rescue Committee (IRC).

The closing ceremony was attended by HRH Princess Rajwa bint Ali, Minister of Social Development Wafa Bani Mustafa, and a representative of the René Moawad Foundation from Lebanon.

Speaking at the event, attended by representatives of international and local organizations and several of the institute’s strategic partners, Bani Mustafa said success in care programs is not limited to practical and economic aspects, but also extends to participants’ psychological well-being by strengthening their self-confidence and self-esteem.

Bani Mustafa said the recently approved preparation and aftercare bylaw for beneficiaries and graduates of care homes is the first of its kind.

On its significance, she noted the new regulation will better frame and regulate relevant procedures, define the roles and responsibilities of all partners toward care home graduates and include persons with disabilities.

She said aftercare is an essential stage preceded by preparation, aimed to ensure that beneficiaries are "properly equipped to reintegrate into society." Bani Mustafa said the ministry is working to develop care homes beyond the traditional model of shelter and education toward building well-rounded individuals, who are independent and can engage confidently in society, with a focus on life skills and psychological and cognitive development.

In turn, PTI Director General Aghadeer Jweihan said the program is important for qualifying girls, training them in essential life skills and empowering them to integrate into society and secure a safe future.

The ceremony, which featured a theatrical performance by the beneficiaries, artistic shows, and handicraft workshops, showcased the participants' experience during the program.

HRH Princess Rajwa bint Ali and the minister distributed training certificates for the beneficiary girls.
