Zakat Fund approves plan to pay loans of 116 indebted women

Amman, May 13 (Petra) – Board of Directors of the Zakat Fund decided to disburse an Eid gift of JD50 to each poor and orphan family from the fund's beneficiaries.

This amount will be deposited into the target groups' bank accounts, along with their monthly cash assistance.

In a meeting held Wednesday, chaired by the Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohammad Khalaileh, the board also approved the renovation of 11 homes nationwide, following the completion of the necessary technical studies.

Furthermore, the board approved settlement of outstanding debts of 116 women, who met the fund's established criteria and standards, with the total amount of JD80,500.

In support of education, the board approved the launch of the school bag project for 2026/2027 academic year.

The project aims to purchase 20,000 fully equipped school bags, complete with stationery supplies, at an estimated cost not exceeding JD250,000. These bags will be distributed to students from eligible households.

Speaking at the meeting, Khalaileh praised the fund's pivotal role, expressing his appreciation for the trust of zakat payers, donors, and others behind charitable initiatives.

He also commended these people's generous financial support, which contributes to strengthening the values of social solidarity.
