Amman, Mar. 18 (Petra) – The 21st Hashemite Competition for Holy Quran Memorisation and Recitation for Women concluded activities on Wednesday, which featured 7 categories, with 5 winners in each group.

Talking at the honoring ceremony, Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohammad Khalayleh, stated the competition is part of the ongoing Hashemite mission to care for the Holy Quran and its people.

Khalayleh praised the continuous Royal support under His Majesty King Abdullah II's initiative to complete recitation of the Holy Quran in the Kingdom's mosques, as well as a continuation of Quranic study circles at Al-Aqsa Mosque despite the difficult circumstances.

He added that the Holy Quran will remain present in the Muslims' lives as a guiding principle and way of life, calling for adhering to its values, reflecting upon its teachings, and acting upon its instructions.

He affirmed the ministry's commitment to supporting Quranic centers nationwide and organizing competitions that aim to promote Quranic values and translate them into practical behavior.

On future plans, he announced continuation of these competitions despite the region's current challenges and circumstances underscores the commitment to serving the Holy Quran.

In turn, Dr. Lamis Al-Hazim, Director of the Ministry's Women's Affairs, said this competition, which was launched in 2006 under royal patronage, continues to attract participants of all ages and provides a "competitive" environment, based on skillful performance and accurate memorization, overseen by specialized judging panels.

She indicated that a total of 2,448 participants engaged in this year's competitions from various governorates, as 35 winners were honored after rigorous qualifying rounds.

Concluding the ceremony, the minister handed over certificates to the female winners.
