Amman, April 15 (Petra) – The State Security Court On February 25, 2026, issued verdicts convicting five suspects for possessing narcotics set for trafficking and were sentenced in absentia to 20 years of hard labor and a fine of JD20,000 each.

The court also ordered the seizure of the narcotics and four vehicles used in trafficking operations.

After the Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) was tipped off that the convicts were preparing a large quantity of narcotics – 6,450,000 Captagon pills and 143 kilograms of hashish – for smuggling to a neighboring country by concealing them inside a heavy vehicle (a road roller), authorities moved to their locations, arrested them, and seized the narcotics, according to court documents.

On April 6, the court issued its verdict convicting four defendants of possessing and exporting narcotics with intent to traffic. They were sentenced to 25 years of hard labor, a fine of JD25,000, and the confiscation of JD136,000 in revenue from trafficked substances, as well as the seizure of three vehicles used in trafficking operations.

On October 14, 2024, following information received by AND that the defendants possessed large quantities of heroin intended for distribution, officers moved to their location, arrested them, and seized 12.5 kilograms of heroin and 136,000 dinars in proceeds from drug trafficking, according to case details.

"These penalties are in accordance with the law to achieve general and specific deterrence for anyone who tries to threaten the security of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and endanger Jordanian society," said the court.
