Health Workers Union, Pharmaceutical Firm Sign Collective Bargaining Agreement

Amman, March 3 (Petra) – The General Union of Workers in Health Services and the Jordan River Pharmaceutical Company on Tuesday signed a collective bargaining agreement at the Ministry of Labor aimed at enhancing employment benefits for 160 employees.

Secretary-General of the Ministry of Labor, Abdul Halim Doujan, said the Ministry remains committed to monitoring private sector labor conditions and engaging all parties to the production process to facilitate the resolution of collective labor disputes.

Doujan underlined the Ministry’s role in supervising dispute resolution mechanisms and strengthening job stability and security within private sector institutions. He noted that fostering constructive labor relations among the three parties of production, government, employers and workers, contributes to institutional continuity, promotes a positive work environment and ensures that collective agreements safeguard the rights and interests of all stakeholders.

He added that the Ministry encourages direct negotiations and institutionalized social dialogue between employers and trade unions, highlighting their positive impact on workplace conditions, job security, and broader economic and social indicators, ultimately enhancing productivity and organizational performance.

President of the General Federation of Jordanian Trade Unions Khaled Fanatseh said the union is committed to advancing social dialogue between workers and employers to reinforce balanced labor relations, commending the Ministry’s oversight role in facilitating negotiations and supporting improvements in employment benefits and workplace standards.

Union President Mohammad Ghanem stated that enhancing employment conditions and the work environment will directly contribute to higher productivity and improved corporate performance, praising the company’s management for its responsiveness to union demands and constructive engagement throughout the negotiation process.

General Manager of Jordan River Pharmaceutical Company Rami Sabarini said the collective agreement reflects cooperative efforts between the company and the union, with the Ministry’s support, noting that the contract includes improved employment benefits and underscores management’s appreciation of employees as a fundamental pillar of the production process.
