Amman, Feb 15 (Petra) – Chairman of the Jordanian Businessmen Association (JBA) Ayman Alawneh discussed with Lebanese Ambassador to Jordan Brigitte Tawk ways to enhance economic cooperation between Jordan and Lebanon, expand joint investment opportunities, and review reconstruction projects in Lebanon and link them to economic opportunities in Jordan and Syria.

According to a JBA statement issued on Sunday, Alawneh affirmed that Jordanian-Lebanese relations are historic, pointing to the importance of activating the Jordanian-Lebanese Business Council established in 2000 as a platform to strengthen cooperation between businesspeople in the two countries.

Alawneh noted that the JBA represents an umbrella for the business sector and is among the oldest associations in Jordan, as it has been and continues to be a bridge linking Jordanian businesspeople with the regional and international environment. He stressed the importance of joint action to enhance trade exchange, increase trade volume, and create promising investment opportunities across various economic sectors.

He emphasized the need to strengthen economic partnerships between Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria in a manner that opens new horizons for joint projects contributing to sustainable economic growth in the three countries.

For her part, Ambassador Tawk praised the depth of historic relations between Lebanon and Jordan, affirming that the two countries are bound by strong economic ties. She reviewed the outcomes of the eighth session of the Jordanian-Lebanese Higher Joint Committee, whose meetings resulted in enhanced cooperation in economic and investment fields and paved the way for the implementation of joint projects between the two countries.

She pointed to the signing of 21 agreements on the sidelines of the meetings to cooperate across various sectors, opening significant investment opportunities and strengthening regional cooperation.

Ambassador Tawk welcomed the activation of the Jordanian-Lebanese Business Council, affirming the possibility of economically linking Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria to expand the base of joint investments in a manner that contributes to developing the private sector and opening new prospects for trade and investment exchange.
