Amman, April 1 (Petra) -- The Jordan Enterprise Development Corporation (JEDCO), in cooperation with the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (MSMEDA) in Egypt, organized a specialized virtual workshop entitled "Supporting the Access of Small and Medium Enterprises to the Jordanian and Egyptian Markets." The workshop was directed at enterprises operating in the chemical industries and Dead Sea products sector, with the participation of several public and private sector representatives from both sides.

According to a JEDCO statement on Wednesday, the workshop focused on opportunities available for Egyptian and Jordanian businesses to enhance trade relations between the two countries and gain access to the Egyptian market. The workshop reviewed relevant requirements and procedures, discussed key challenges that exporters from both sides may encounter, and explored strategies to overcome these obstacles. This initiative aims to increase the volume of trade exchange between the two neighboring countries.

JEDCO Acting Executive Director, Dana Al-Zoubi, confirmed that this initiative comes within the corporation's continuous efforts to open new markets for Jordanian small and medium enterprises through providing the necessary technical and financial support and enhancing their export readiness.

She mentioned that the workshop is part of the corporation's efforts to strengthen economic integration with MSMEDA and to build on the strong bilateral relations. This initiative aims to increase the volume of Jordanian exports, especially in high-value-added sectors such as chemical industries and Dead Sea products.

MSMEDA Chief Executive Officer Basil Rahmi confirmed the agency's efforts to enhance cooperation with JEDCO to integrate support and development for the enterprise sector in both countries.

He pointed out that cooperation with the Jordanian side includes exchanging expertise, experiences, and best practices in developing productive and industrial sectors within medium and small enterprises. It also includes ways to support existing enterprise owners, assist them in developing their projects, and encourage youth in both countries to start establishing their own enterprises.

He noted that the two workshops scheduled to be held consecutively in cooperation with JEDCO will focus on networking between small companies in both countries, investment opportunities through free zones, exploring joint manufacturing opportunities, and integration in value chains. They will also feature a meeting between Egyptian companies and Jordanian government entities, with the aim of supporting the access of Egyptian small and medium enterprises into the Jordanian market.

The workshop featured introductory presentations from the Egyptian side regarding the business environment in the Egyptian market and the available investment and commercial opportunities. This was in addition to reviewing the support mechanisms for small and medium enterprises and the services provided by the Enterprise Development Agency to facilitate the entry of foreign companies into the market.
