Jordan, Kuwait affirm strong ties and regional coordination

Amman, April 26 (Petra) – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Ayman Safadi met on Sunday with Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah.

Safadi and Al Sabah discussed relations between Jordan and Kuwait and cooperation in addressing regional challenges in line with the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II and His Highness Sheikh Mishal Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, Emir of Kuwait.

They discussed ways to expand cooperation across various sectors and agreed to prepare for the sixth session of the Jordanian-Kuwaiti Joint Higher Committee, building on outcomes from the previous meeting held in Kuwait.

They agreed to hold political consultations between the two foreign ministries at the earliest opportunity.

Safadi discussed Kuwaiti investments in Jordan as a reflection of strong investor confidence and expressed Jordan's interest in further increasing investment and trade ties between the two countries.

The top diplomats reaffirmed solidarity in the face of regional tensions and stressed the importance of de-escalation efforts.

They supported building on the ceasefire understanding between the United States and Iran to reach a sustainable solution that upholds international law, respects state sovereignty and ensures freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz in accordance with the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.

On regional developments, Safadi and Al Sabah discussed the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, calling for stabilisatin in Gaza, ensuring the continuous flow of humanitarian aid and halting measures undermining the two-state solution, including settlement expansion, land annexation and violations affecting holy sites in occupied Jerusalem.

They addressed the situation in Lebanon, emphasising the importance of consolidating the ceasefire, supporting state sovereignty and ensuring exclusive control of arms by state institutions.

Both ministers agreed to maintain close coordination and ongoing consultation to strengthen regional security and stability.
