Amman, April 13 (Petra) -- Senate President Faisal Fayez met on Monday with Pakistani Ambassador Khurram Sarfraz Khan to discuss strengthening relations across various sectors, in addition to the current situation in the region and the latest developments in the Iranian-American-Israeli war.
According to a statement issued Monday, Fayez said Jordanian-Pakistani relations, which date back to the 1960s, are longstanding and built on mutual respect and cooperation in the interest of both countries.
He added that the Senate is keen to advance cooperation between Jordan and Pakistan and to promote economic, investment, and trade ties through the signing of additional joint agreements and the exchange of goods, products, and diversified investments.
Fayez also praised Pakistan’s mediation role aimed at ending the Iranian-American-Israeli war in order to restore security and stability to the region and prevent a wider conflict.
During the meeting, he referred to the diplomatic efforts led by His Majesty King Abdullah II with regional and international leaders to spare the region further escalation. He said Jordan would not allow itself to become a battlefield for any party, adding that Iranian attacks on Jordan, the Gulf states, and Arab countries at large are unacceptable, rejected, and condemned.
For his part, the Pakistani ambassador commended the significant role and sustained efforts of His Majesty King Abdullah II to resolve the region’s outstanding issues through political means.
He also expressed pride in the high level reached by Pakistani-Jordanian relations and reaffirmed the shared commitment to maintaining and strengthening them across all fields.
