Amman, Mar. 26 (Petra) – The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) released its Q4 2025 statistical report on Thursday, revealing a profound transformation in Jordan’s digital landscape. The data highlights a decisive migration toward high-speed connectivity, with 5G and Fiber-optics seeing explosive growth even as traditional voice services continue their steady decline.

The most striking figure in the report is the surge in 5G mobile subscriptions, which reached 320,700 by the end of 2025. This represents a staggering 184% increase compared to Q4 2024. This momentum was mirrored in the fixed internet sector, where Fiber-optic technology now commands a dominant 79% share of all broadband subscriptions, totaling 652,200 connections.

In contrast, older technologies like xDSL have shrunk to a mere 5% market share, underscoring a rapid nationwide infrastructure upgrade.

Data Consumption Hits New Peaks Jordanian appetite for data shows no signs of slowing down: – Mobile Data: Consumption rose to 813.9 million GB, a 23.7% increase year-over-year.

– Fixed Broadband Data: Usage hit 1.6 billion GB, with the average monthly consumption per subscription jumping from 550 GB in 2024 to 662 GB in 2025 – a 20.4% growth in individual data intensity.

The Twilight of Legacy Services The report confirms the ongoing obsolescence of traditional communication methods: – Fixed Voice: Total subscribers dipped to 4.77 million, with voice traffic collapsing by 30% to just 7.9 million minutes.

– SMS Messaging: Short Message Service (SMS) volume saw a massive 42.5% drop, falling to 331 million messages as users continue to favor instant messaging applications.

Market Penetration and Demographics Mobile broadband penetration has reached 71.5% of the total population. When adjusted for the population over the age of 15, the penetration rate stands at a robust 110%, indicating that many users maintain multiple active lines. Of the 8.5 million mobile broadband subscriptions, 63% remain prepaid, while 37% are postpaid.
