Amman, April 4 (Petra) – The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply recorded 1,101 violations against establishments for non-compliance with the provisions of the Industry and Trade Law and related legislation during the first quarter of this year, the ministry said on Saturday.

In a statement, the ministry said its Market Control Directorate handled 399 complaints received from citizens through market inspectors deployed across all regions of the kingdom and took the necessary measures to address them, reflecting rapid response and effective oversight.

The ministry added that inspection teams carried out 1,353 inspection tours covering 21,891 visits to commercial establishments in various governorates to ensure compliance with applicable instructions and regulations.

The Market Control Directorate continues to enforce the provisions of the Industry and Trade Law No. 18 of 1998, which includes monitoring the availability of basic food commodities, verifying price declarations and compliance with them, tracking stock levels at wholesale traders, catching any practices related to concealing goods or refusing to sell them, and monitoring discounts, liquidations and promotional offers, the ministry said.

The ministry affirmed that its inspection campaigns are continuing to ensure market stability and consumer protection, calling on citizens to submit complaints and observations through official channels and dedicated numbers: landline 06-5629045, sending complaints via WhatsApp to 0797527832, or by email at MComplaint@mit.gov.jo.
