Nationwide Cleanup Campaign Launched Across Kingdom
Nationwide Cleanup Campaign Launched Across Kingdom

Amman, April 30 (Petra)-- The Ministry of Environment on Thursday carried out a nationwide cleanup campaign across the Kingdom's governorates, with broad participation from government bodies, security agencies, municipalities, and local communities. The initiative comes as part of the executive program of the national cleanliness strategy aimed at reducing random littering and advancing ongoing national environmental efforts.

The campaign covered multiple locations across the Kingdom, including public parks, forests, and key tourist sites. In Amman, activities took place at the Public Security Martyrs Park in Shafa Badran, while other sites included Sos Rason Forests in Ajloun, Souf/Rason forests in Jerash, and the Ma’wa Reserve area. In Irbid, the campaign targeted Fouara (Ijhara Forests) in Qasabat Irbid District, while in Madaba it extended along the King’s Highway toward Dhiban.

Cleanup efforts also reached Jubilee Forests in Karak, Sixtieth Street (Al-Quds Al-Arabiya area) in Salt, the Ma’an Heritage Market and King Abdullah II Park in Ma’an, and the Environmental Park in Russeifa, Zarqa. Additional locations included Al-Hussein Park in Mafraq, Al-Sila’ area in Tafileh, and Abu Al-Zighan in Deir Alla, within the Jordan Valley.

As part of the campaign, biodegradable waste bags were distributed to visitors, along with eco-friendly car bags under the "Keep a Bag in Your Car" initiative. The effort aims to promote positive environmental behavior and reduce harmful practices associated with littering.

The campaign was implemented through strong institutional collaboration involving the Ministries of Environment, Interior, Local Administration, Tourism and Antiquities, Agriculture, and Youth. It also included the Public Security Directorate represented by the Royal Department for Environmental Protection, Tourism Police, Community Police, and local police directorates as well as the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, the Department of Antiquities, the Greater Amman Municipality, local municipalities, joint services councils, civil society organizations, environmental associations, youth initiatives, and community groups.

The Ministry of Environment stated that such campaigns are part of its broader plan to intensify cleanup efforts during holidays and peak outdoor seasons. The initiative aims to raise environmental awareness, promote a culture of cleanliness and volunteerism, protect natural, tourist, and archaeological sites, and reduce littering, while strengthening community responsibility toward preserving the Kingdom’s environment.
