Amman, Oct. 8 (Petra) -- The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and the Jordanian Petroleum Products Marketing Company (JoPetrol) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen cybersecurity cooperation and enhance the company’s preparedness and capacity to address cyber threats.
The agreement is designed to support the protection of vital sectors, strengthen JoPetrol’s ability to manage cybersecurity risks, and ensure the continuity of its operations and services.
According to an NCSC statement issued Thursday, the MoU was signed by NCSC President Mohammad Smadi and JoPetrol Director General Khaled Al-Zoubi.
The agreement is part of the NCSC’s efforts to expand partnerships with institutions and organizations operating in vital sectors and strengthen national coordination in confronting cyber threats. It also contributes to developing a more resilient and responsive national cybersecurity framework capable of keeping pace with evolving risks.
Under the MoU, the two sides will work to raise cybersecurity awareness among JoPetrol employees and expand the company’s participation in national capacity-building programs and initiatives, as well as cybersecurity exercises and drills organized by the NCSC.
Cooperation will also include workshops and knowledge-sharing sessions, the exchange of expertise and best practices, and support for JoPetrol’s efforts to strengthen cybersecurity governance and compliance. The agreement further aims to improve the company’s overall level of cybersecurity maturity and institutional readiness.
Smadi said the MoU reflects the Centre’s continued efforts to deepen partnerships with national institutions, particularly those operating in vital sectors, helping them better protect their digital assets and systems while maintaining uninterrupted services.
He stressed that securing vital sectors requires sustained investment in institutional, human, and technical capabilities, along with stronger readiness and compliance. He added that an integrated approach to cooperation and expertise-sharing between the NCSC and national institutions is essential to keeping pace with evolving cyber threats and strengthening prevention, response, and recovery capabilities.
