Showers Ease as Cool, Dusty Conditions Persist

Amman, April 8 (Petra) -- Relatively cool and unsettled weather continues on Wednesday, with scattered rainfall affecting parts of the country and visibility warnings in place amid fog and dust, according to the Jordan Meteorological Department.

Partly cloudy skies dominate most regions, with intermittent showers concentrated in western areas before gradually easing during the evening hours. Winds are northwesterly and moderate, becoming active at intervals and raising dust, particularly in eastern regions.

The Meteorological Department warned of reduced horizontal visibility during the early morning and late-night hours due to fog over high mountainous areas, as well as parts of the plains and Badia. Visibility may also decline at times due to dust in eastern areas, alongside the risk of slippery roads in locations experiencing rainfall.

A gradual improvement is expected on Thursday, with a slight rise in temperatures and generally sunny conditions across most regions, although relatively cool weather will persist. Warmer conditions will continue in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba, while westerly winds remain moderate with intermittent activity.

Conditions on Friday and Saturday are expected to stabilize further, with partly cloudy skies and relatively cool weather prevailing across most regions, contrasted by warmer conditions in low-lying areas. Winds will remain moderate, shifting between westerly and northwesterly directions, and becoming active at times.

Temperature ranges on Wednesday highlight regional contrasts, with East Amman forecast between 16 C and 7 C, and West Amman between 14 C and 5 C. Northern highlands will record 12 C to 5 C, while the Sharah highlands range between 13 C and 4 C.

In the Badia, temperatures are expected between 21 C and 9 C, and in the plains between 16 C and 8 C. The northern Jordan Valley is forecast at 23 C to 12 C, rising to 26 C to 15 C in the southern valley. The Dead Sea will record 25 C to 14 C, while Aqaba reaches 28 C to 16 C.
