New York, Oct. 27 (Petra) -- The US Nasdaq Composite Index rose 308 points on Tuesday to close at 26,477 points, a gain of 1.18 percent.

After the close of trading, the Dow Jones Industrial Average posted a modest rise of just 16 points to 52,377 points, while the Standard & Poor's 500 (S&P 500) gained about 45 points to reach 7,722 points, up 0.6 percent.

Meanwhile, US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude fell about $2 to $100.22 a barrel.
