Baghdad, March 23 (Petra)-- Iraq’s Anbar Governorate announced that its border crossings are fully prepared to export up to 200,000 barrels of oil per day via tanker trucks, through routes linking the Port of Aqaba in Jordan and Baniyas in Syria.

Spokesperson for Anbar Governorate, Moayad Al-Dulaimi, told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that the governorate’s border outlets along Iraq’s frontiers with Jordan, Syria, and Saudi Arabia are secure and ready to facilitate oil exports. He noted that these crossings could help mitigate the economic impact of the ongoing closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

Al-Dulaimi explained that the crossings are capable of handling between 100,000 and 200,000 barrels per day transported by tanker trucks, adding that these routes would complement the existing Kirkuk–Ceyhan pipeline to Turkey.

He further highlighted the strategic importance of the Iraqi oil pipeline to Jordan, which extends from Basra through Haditha to Aqaba, as well as the Iraq–Syria pipeline linking Kirkuk to Baniyas.

Activating these routes, he said, would play a key role in strengthening Iraq’s economy and addressing challenges arising from the Strait of Hormuz closure.
