AND handles 101 drug cases in 10th week of crystal meth crackdown

Amman, Oct. 4 (Petra) – The media spokesperson for the Public Security Directorate (PSD) stated agents from the Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) handled 101 cases across the Kingdom's governorates during the tenth week of their intensified campaign against the deadly crystal meth substance.

According to a PSD statement issued on Sunday, the spokesperson said these cases included 28 incidents involving trafficking and distribution of the deadly substance and 73 others involved its consumption.

Forty-one distributors were arrested, while 120 users were apprehended in the remaining cases. Quantities of the deadly crystal meth were seized from the individuals arrested.

The spokesperson added that the crackdown is implemented with "firm resolve and zero tolerance" until its goals are fulfilled, mainly raising awareness about the substance and hunting down parties, who attempt to deal with this drug that causes death to users and drives heinous crimes threatening society and the safety of its members.

As part of their role in fighting the phenomenon, the spokesperson urged the public to fulfill their humanitarian and social duty by reporting any information regarding individuals involved with or details concerning this deadly substance, through the unified emergency number 911.

The PSD affirmed all reports will be handled with the "utmost confidentiality and seriousness." //Petra// AG
