Amman, Oct. 4 (Petra) – Minister of Youth Raed Adwan on Sunday launched the 21st Arab Capitals Youth Meeting on Sunday in Amman.
The five-day summit, organized with the Arab League, brings together youth delegations from 14 Arab countries.
Talking at the event, Adwan voiced support for Jordanian youth, noting that youth development remains a "top national priority." He pointed to esports as an emerging global digital industry rather than mere entertainment, describing it as a "strategic economic driver capable of generating high-quality jobs." Jordan, he added, established itself as a "regional hub" for the sector, adding that recommendations from the gathering will be presented to the Council of Arab Ministers for Youth and Sports.
In turn, Arab League Director of Youth and Sports Faisal Ghassal praised the event, stating that esports combines technology, decision-making, and teamwork.
Shahd Qutabi of the Yemeni delegation commended Jordan's hospitality and the gathering's role in boosting cross-border collaboration among Arab youth.
The opening ceremony featured a retrospective video of past gatherings and a performance by the Jordanian Ma'an Folklore Troupe.
Over five days, participants will engage in panel discussions, field visits, and cultural exchanges focused on digital innovation, creative thinking, and regional collaboration.
Participating delegations represent Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Tunisia, the UAE, and Yemen.
