Aqaba, Sept. 29 (Petra) - The Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) hosted a Spanish delegation on Tuesday to plan the city's first international padel club championship, scheduled for the first quarter of 2027.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed vision to host the tournament, attract international visitors, and expand investments in padel equipment, apparel, and support services.

ASEZA Board of Commissioners Chairman Shadi Majali stated that introducing sports tourism aligns with a "broader" strategy to diversify Aqaba's tourism offerings and attract new visitor segments.

He noted that hosting global tournaments helps showcase Aqaba's "full potential," giving visitors a chance to experience its beaches, water sports, and historical sites alongside the games.

In turn, the Spanish delegation hailed Aqaba's infrastructure, hotels, and coastal setting, affirming its readiness to host "major" international competitions and support long-term commercial partnerships.
